CPT code

Current Procedural Terminology: five-character codes that describe medical, surgical and diagnostic services.

CPT codes are maintained by the American Medical Association and used to bill most physician and outpatient services, from office visits to imaging and surgery. For example, 70551 is an MRI of the brain without contrast.

Because a procedure is billed with a specific CPT code, searching MRF data by CPT code is the most precise way to compare what different providers are paid for the same service.
