Allowed-amount file

The MRF reporting historical amounts a plan allowed for out-of-network services, along with billed charges.

Allowed-amount files show what the plan actually paid, or allowed, for services from out-of-network providers over a historical 90-day period, along with the provider's billed charges.

To protect privacy, plans leave out any combination of provider and service with fewer than 20 claims in the period, so these files are often much sparser than in-network files.
